John
designs and makes furniture.
His
work is mostly, but not exclusively, single pieces for
public, work and domestic places.
With
his roots in the 'Arts and Crafts' movement, he has moved
on to create a diverse body of work using a wide range of
materials including Polypropylene, wood, glass, laminates,
laquer and different metals. Recently he has introduced
lighting into some of his pieces, partly because he enjoys
trying out and learning about different materials, techniques
and effects but also as a way of making the piece stand
out alone and work in different places and in different
levels of light.
John
aims to make his furniture 'firm, functional and good to
look at', but he is not against a bit of frivolity.
